Ignacio Vela has over 29 years of executive level golf management. For the past 6 years as the General Manager of Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club. Under his leadership with since joining the Dunn Golf Group, the club has grown from 200 registered memberships to over 1800 registered memberships. Revenues growth has averaged 25% year over year. Ignacio was also hired, initially as a consultant, to design a new business model to manage the municipal courses for the City of San Antonio. The model integrated a private golf management model with oversight from city appointed officials. The Alamo City Golf Trail & Municipal Golf Association was created as a hybrid management model to ensure the protection of the city’s assets and business growth of all 7 municipal properties. Soon after consulting, Ignacio was hired in a permanent role as the Chief Operation Officer of the Alamo City Golf Trail. Under his management, the $6 Million redesign of the historic Brackenridge Park took place. In total, Ignacio oversaw over $25 million in improvements to the city’s assets. The Alamo City Golf Trail has received many accolades since the model was introduced in 2008. 14 years of Ignacio’s experience came as a regional golf executive for top golf management companies such as EAGLE Golf in Dallas, Tx. These 14 years of experience includes multiple facility management, regional management responsibilities, acquisitions and opening of new club properties, and upper management employee training. Ignacio also has an impressive background in budget creation and interpreting all financial information.

Brian Mahon, PGA Director of Golf

Brian Mahon is from San Diego originally, where he played Golf professionally on various tours around the world. He played collegiate golf at UCLA from 1981-1986 where he was a top 5 member of the #1 ranked program in the nation as well as Team Captain his Senior Year. From 1992 until partnering with Hank Haney in 1994, Brian caddied on the PGA Tour for his best friend and student, PGA Tour top 100 All-Time money winner, Duffy Waldorf. He then became one of only two “Director level” Instructors for Hank Haney Golf. During his time with Hank Haney, Brian was a Facility Manager for his downtown Dallas locations and personally gave over 1000 private Golf lessons a year for 20 years. Hank Haney, himself also became Tiger Wood’s Coach for six of those years. Brian has been a Class "A" PGA Professional now for 23 years and also counts former PGA Tour player, former Rockwall HS State Champ and Oklahoma State 4 -time All American Edward Loar, along with the rest of the 1996 Rockwall HS State Championship teammates on his list of past students. He also enjoys teaching his many other students of all ages and levels. These include his 23 yr old son, Harrison, who played Collegiate Golf at UCLA, and his daughter Tatum who is 22 and beginning her Senior year at San Diego state. When Haney’s last downtown Dallas location closed in 2014, Brian started and still owns his own insurance agency while enjoying his position as Director of Golf here at RGAC!

My name is Mike Frias and I am a father of two daughters. My older daughter has just begun her first year at Concordia University in Austin, TX where she is studying physical therapy. My younger daughter is in her third year of high school in Austin, TX. I am originally from El Paso, TX and have been in the Dallas area for approximately 7 years. I am coming over from Lakewood Country Club in Dallas, TX where I spent four and a half years as an assistant golf professional. Prior I spend two years as an assistant golf professional at Preston Trail in Dallas, TX.I grew up playing baseball but my last year in high school I turned to golf which led me to play for the University of the Southwest, a small Christian college in Hobbs, NM. I graduated with a Biology / Pre-Med degree. A few things about myself, I do enjoy playing golf. I like helping people who work hard, be it on the practice tee or in life. I have two border collies who keep me active. I am extremely excited to be working alongside Ignacio, Brian, and the rest of the team here at RGAC.

Bryan attended school at The Golf Academy of America in Dallas. He graduated with a degree in Golf Complex Operations and Management with a certification in golf instruction. While attending school, Bryan interned at the Hank Haney Headquarters. After Graduation he worked as a full-time instructor leading the junior program, assisting in golf schools, and teaching individual lessons to players of all ages and skill levels.
